Is it ethical to use X?: Zoe Williams asks an important question in her opinion article “Racism, misogyny, lies: how did X become so full of hatred? And is it ethical to keep using it?” This question of whether it is ethical to use X and to share a platform with the likes of Andrew Tate and Tommy Robinson is an important one to ask ourselves. In my opinion, the answer has to be a clear “NO$rdquo;! I am using X only to point out the bad in using is and to underline the importance of boycotting Elon Musk and the likes.

Free the Women suffering under the Taliban in Afghanistan: The people who respect human rights for all and see gender equality as a value in their ethos must react to the criminal behavior of the Taliban men in Afghanistan. What is wrong with these men? In new laws they require “ that women must completely veil their bodies – including their faces – in thick clothing at all times in public to avoid leading men into temptation and vice.” Are their brains controlled by their cocks and they cannot control themselves when they see or hear a woman? Can we let them punish women for their own weakness? Not speaking up emboldens them! This is underlined by Annie Kelly and Zhara Joya in their article ‘Frightening’ Taliban law bans women from speaking in public” published in The Guardian today.

The true, horrifying scale of death and disease in Gaza: Devi Sridhar in her article “Scientists are closing in on the true, horrifying scale of death and disease in Gaza” published today in The Guardian outlines the horrifying scale of what is being done to the people in Gaza. She writes: “The Lancet medical journal recently published an estimate of deaths in Gaza from several respected scientists, who outline their process of estimation (comparison with similar conflicts) and final numbers. They estimate that about 186,000 total deaths could be attributable to the current conflict in Gaza, which is roughly 7.9% of its population, by mid-June 2024.”

Long sentences for the Truth Tellers : Judge Christopher Hehir sentenced the five defendants to very long jail times. Michel Forst, the special rapporteur of the UN on environmental defenders, who attended part of the trial, issued a statement at its conclusion: “Today is a dark day for peaceful environmental protest. This sentence should shock the conscience of any member of the public. It should also put all of us on high alert on the state of civic rights and freedoms in the United Kingdom. The judge has made very clear that he does not care about the emergency humanity is facing and clearly is biased against the activists.
