Name: man-made lakes
Acronym:
Description: Manmade lakes are reservoirs created by man usually through the construction of a dam that creates a large upstream reservoir. Usually the influence of the watershed on these lakes is greater that its influence on a natural lake because the ratio of the size of the watershed to the size of man-made lake is larger. As a result these lakes are influenced more by sediments (which over time will tend to fill a manmade lake) and organic material leading to hypoxic zones and the production of methane.
